Needles

Traditionally, sheets of folded paper (called signatures) are sewn together to form a book, although many modern, cheaper books may be glued instead, or glued and sewn. All the sewing action occurs on the spine of an uncased (no covers) book with linen thread and different types of needles. Straight needles are good for long stitches. The curved needle seen here are best for hooked or chain stitches.
