Glenn Fireball Roberts coaxed his 1957 Chevrolet across the finish line two laps ahead of his nearest competitor to cop the prize money of $2750. Another $150 won in an earlier race yesterday, brought Roberts' winnings for the year to almost 37-thousand dollars. Roberts came across the finish line with only three good tires...the fourth having blown on the last lap. The feature race of the day was the last major NASCAR event of the 1958 season. This was Robert's sixth major win of the year. Roberts---who won his nick name as a baseball pitcher at the University of Florida----took over the lead after Joe Weatherly of Norfolk hit a wall and blew a tire.
