So many layers of history and the stories of so many people are contained within the soil at Flowerdew Hundred. A complete discussion would cover 10,000 years of history and over 70 different excavations across 1,400 acres. In order to provide an in-depth look at how archaeological investigations here have illuminated the past, this exhibition focuses on four sites up through 1650--and the people who inhabited them.

The artifacts in the exhibition were excavated at Flowerdew Hundred and are from the Flowerdew Hundred Collection, University of Virginia, unless otherwise noted. Special Collections materials are from the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library, University of Virginia, unless otherwise noted.
