Catalogue of the Library of the University of Virginia
The first printed catalogue of the University of Virginia Library lists approximately 8,000 titles "arranged alphabetically, under different heads with the number and size of the volumes of each work, and its edition specified." The catalogue is based on Jefferson's manuscript list of books for the University Library, and was compiled by the second University Librarian, William Wertenbaker. The printed catalogue is arranged in twenty-nine chapters, as opposed to the forty-two divisions of the manuscript catalogue.
The catalogue was printed in Charlottesville by Gilmer, Davis & Co.
